2021
Kékfrankos Grand Superior „40” 2021
Sík-hegy dűlő
The appearance of this wine is already suggestive. Youthful, but rather ruby colour, depth and slow flow promise a full-bodied wine. The aromas start with a bottle bouquet followed by a slight leatheriness then the imprint of the variety, the barrel and the production site. Aromas of liquorice, black cherry, hibiscus, cloves, cocoa powder, with tuffaceous, chalky, chalky dust in the background. The alcohol and tannin are firm but integrated. Its acidity really comes through on the finish. The fruity and spicy flavours of the grape, the subtle smoky-parsnip notes of the oak and the minerality of the vineyard create an exciting harmony. A well-structured, rich wine with great ageing potential.

WINEMAKING
Harvest from our old plantations in the upper part of the Síkhegy vineyard. Very strict yield control were maintained from pruning to shoot selection to bunching. After a warm, dry August and September, we harvested perfectly ripe grapes in early October. After destemming the grapes were fermented on the skins in steel tanks for a good two weeks. The wine was aged in first and second fill Hungarian and French 225 and 500 litre barrels for one and a half years.
